Dear London, (Part 1)

With EJ Turner

Dear London,

You are a city of juxtaposition.

A city of tradition and of change.
A city of light and of darkness.
A city of wealth and of poverty.
A city of generations and of new arrivals.
A city of millions of people and a city of loneliness.
A city of the powerful and of the vulnerable.
A city of opportunity and of the daily grind.
A city longing for unity but fixated on difference.

Dear London, lift up your eyes. The King of Glory is waiting for you.

As you mourn the death of your Queen, reflect on her life of unwavering service to you.
Oh how she loved you London.
During her reign, this city saw times of war and times of peace.
Times of political and economic stability and times of turmoil.
Times of celebration and times of mourning.
This city witnessed both the destructive power of hate and fear, and the rebuilding power of love and unity.
Through it all, your Queen remained faithful and resolute in her love for you. Her life was a love letter to you.

But London, there is one who loves you even more.
Whose eternity of service to you is unmatched, even by your late Queen. Who’s very being is a love letter to you.

Dear London, lift up your eyes.
The King of Glory is waiting for you.

Lean into his love.
In your joy and in your sorrow.
In your triumphs and in your failures.
In Him, your light will shine in the darkness.
In Him, your wealthy will support those in poverty.
Those who have been here for generations will welcome new arrivals.
The lonely will find community.
The powerful will fight for the vulnerable.
There will be opportunity in the everyday.
There will be unity in all your difference.

Dear London, lift up your eyes.
The King of Glory is waiting for you.
