Altars - Again and again

With Jenna Capell

Again and again.

I can’t remember the exact day or moment where I first felt Jesus’ presence. I just remember a profound shift: a shift in my thought patterns, a shift in my spirit, a shift in my identity. It was as though God had literally plucked me from the place I was, the direction I was heading in and placed me on a new path. A path with rich joy, freedom and holy, holy peace. I remember surrendering everything then so willingly - laying everything at the altar because I trusted God.

These days I feel as though I come to the altar with so much more ‘stuff’. Stuff that I’m not so quick to hand over. Things that I feel as though I’ve laid down year after year.

Throughout this series I have felt God calling me again to that ‘first love’ moment. The secret place with just me and Him and all of the promises He sings over me. In one of the services I felt Him saying: “When hurt comes up, bring it to the altar again and again, again and again”, “when fear comes up, bring it to the altar again and again, again and again.” Bring it with you, lay it down. Because I know that He is consistent, a never-changing God, always pursuing our hearts.

I am so grateful for Jesus. I pray that we would continue to know Him deeply and seek His guidance and strength every morning, again and again.
